About This Realm

For many years I struggled with a simple question: how do I meaningfully contribute to the communities and cultures that shaped me?

I left Tivland at the age of eleven, but I have always remained deeply connected to it. At the same time, I am equally connected to my Fante heritage through my mother. As I grew older, I found myself becoming increasingly interested in questions of identity, memory, history and inheritance. I wanted to better understand where I came from, the people who came before me and the stories that shaped both sides of my family.

What began as personal curiosity eventually became something much larger. As I started researching Tivland, speaking with family members and collecting stories, I realised how much knowledge exists within our communities that has never been properly documented. Some of the most influential people, particularly women, are remembered only through family conversations, oral histories and fading memories. Many of their contributions are at risk of being lost altogether.

That Tiv | Fante Girl is my attempt to document that journey. It is a living archive where I share discoveries, reflections, research, family histories and questions as they emerge. It is also a space where I explore the connections between my Tiv and Fante heritage, examine what has been preserved, consider what has been forgotten and think about what should be passed on to future generations.

I do not approach this work as an expert or historian with all the answers. I am learning as I go. This realm exists as a record of that process and as a place to gather stories that might otherwise disappear.
